SMOOTH MOVE, OBAMA

I am alive, in case you were wondering. I just don't have anything good to say. Rachel Lucas, on the other hand, lays into Obama for suggesting that our wounded warriors be covered by private insurance instead of the VA. The "blow" line was a nice touch.

What do readers here think of Rachel's proposal?

Frankly I can’t BELIEVE it’s not a requirement that the Commander in Chief has served in uniform. You want to be boss of the military? Then spend some time in the military.

Suppose such a policy were in place. Which Democrat veterans would have ran against McCain last year? If nonveterans like Palin and Jindal couldn't run in 2012, who could? I am not trying to say that Rachel has a bad idea simply because it would disqualify some potential presidential candidates currently favored by Republicans. I just want to explore the concrete as well as abstract consequences of her concept.

Sarah . . . did you miss the memo that 2009 was the Year of the Military Family? What better way to show your respect and acknowledgment of those who have served than to get out a crowbar and ask them to drop their pants? Seriously . . . BOGGLES MY MIND. I saw someone from a veteran's group speaking on a different Rachel's show last night and he was just as worried, if not a bit more muted in his current company.

This is not good.

wifeunit,

Since you mentioned "a different Rachel's show":

Rachel vs. Rachel (I think you know which ones I'm talking about) ... that would make me want to turn on my TV ... at least for a few minutes.

So... cuts to Medicaid to save the government money?

Nope, didn't think so.

Not that this is in the same sphere, in any way. But I ran across it today, right after I read your post, and it just added fuel to my fire. . .

I HOPE he doesn't make this CHANGE. Because I'll be damned if I have to pay for my healthcare for my combat-related injuries.

Of course, it's the other 535 retards who would pass the budget.

Luckily, I'll take all the money I don't spend on healthcare and put it towards helping those who do vote for it understand how unfair it is to suffer injury serving their country.

By public speaking, of course.

I wouldn't place a veterans-only restriction on being the President. The last thing we need is more politically ambitious officers running around my Army.
