ARE WE THERE YET?

Well, I put in a seven-hour workday today. I started crocheting on the wedding afghan at 9 AM, stopping only for lunch and the occasional email. Seven hours and a ton of blurry TV later, I've completed 25 rows. That's eight inches. Man, I kinda figured I'd knock this thing out today, but I still have another four or five inches to go.

That's enough, people. No more weddings or babies for the rest of the year. I can't handle any more of this race-against-the-clock knitting.

My mother- in-law is a crocheter (did I spell that right?) and for 10 years I've been waiting for her to make an afghan she promised me....thing about it was it was a flag (I'm a little over compulsive on the whole flag thing) anyway, when she came to take care of me back when I had surgery in January she started it, only she over guessed it's rows and size since she wasn't using a pattern and so it became this monstrosity she could barely move much less think of adding the blue to, so I have a full size crocheted dark red and cream afghan, which I love...then she started again and did a small 5 x 7 flag for me that she added the blue to and then appliqued the stars on, but even that was a quandary for her, as 50 of them would have been quite an undertaking at 2" each, so we made it simple and did the 13 original colonies...

So okay, LLLLOOONNNGGGG story short, well not so short, I think of you when I look at the flag draped over my rocking chair (I will take a picture and post it for you on my blog) because of how dedicated you are to what you do for others....like my mother in law, who I am blessed to have.... me, well I used to do cross stitch and even that caused my eyes to cross...my fingers to cramp and often me to give up on....I envy what you do for others....my mother in law does a blanket for everyone...and I wondered why it took her so long to do mine, she said that she figured one day we'd have the time to spend with each other and she'd do it then, I don't think she ever thought it would be 10 years after our conversation and during the 3 months while she took care of me while her son was in Iraq.....but I'd never trade that time, my afghan or my flag...

And the afghan you are working on is beautiful....something I'd be proud to display and the owner will love it!!!!

Green, you're the last one! Yours is already started, so no more after that! Ha.
